A little early? you might ask. Isn’t this when Sunday Puzzle Warm-Up usually posts?
Yes, it is. The phrase a little early is a hint to tonight’s puzzle solution.
(Similarly, tomorrow’s Sunday Puzzle will be titled a little late although it, too, will post at the usual time, and the phrase a little late will be a hint to tomorrow night’s puzzle solution.)
Welcome once again to Sunday Puzzle Warm-Up, a weekly opportunity to have a little fun and to get your brain in gear for the regular Sunday Puzzle (which posts Sunday evenings at 8 pm Eastern time). I’m away this weekend so won’t be able to take part in tonight’s puzzle party, but I don’t think you’ll have trouble solving tonight’s puzzle without me.
Tonight’s puzzle has 4 rows, with 3 answers per row. You’ll find the clues for tonight’s puzzle below the line. Hopefully they’ll be readable; with DK-5 it’s something of a gamble what a diary will look like when it publishes, since there’s no preview and WYSINWYG.
If you’re new to Sunday Puzzle you can find a complete explanation of how these puzzles work at the bottom of last week's diary. (Apologies; DK-5 won’t let me copy the usual instructions into this diary and I don’t have time to recreate them.)
1. control straps 2. buries 3. fiddle with
4. after all 5. wall recesses 6. Jem and Scout
7. obligated 8. flourish 9. 110-year-old environmental group
10. not naked 11. famous Lizzie 12. lighter colored
Have fun, and don’t forget to return tomorrow night for the (more challenging) Sunday night puzzle!
