Welcome to Sunday Puzzle, a weekly series for people who enjoy mental exercise spiced with politics, humor, odd bits of trivia, and the occasional furry animal.
Julie Waters started the Sunday Puzzle series in October 2007, and a special kind of acrostic puzzle (named JulieCrostics in her honor) quickly became the Sunday Puzzle feature item. Some of those early puzzles are real gems!
And guess what? Tonight you get to test your wits against one of those early puzzles.
I'm away for blueberry season, with minimal internet access, until about September 13. But Sunday Puzzle will still be here every week for your puzzling pleasure. Pucklady will be hosting a potluck puzzle party the first Sunday of each month, and I've queued up re-posts of some of the earliest JulieCrostics for the weeks in between.
NOTE: This diary was supposed to post while I was away for blueberry season, but the gremlins removed it from the queue in order to post one of their puzzles. (They claim I gave them permission to do this 5 months from now.) I've re-queued it to post tonight.
I've told the gremlins they need to apologize for tampering with the diary queue, and they have assured me they will. I did not receive their apology in time to include in tonight's diary, but they promised me they'd write one in time for me to include it in next week's diary.
Last week's JulieClassic The puzzle which posted 3 weeks ago was her special zombie edition, which included an almost-impossible-to-solve row of zombie clues. So for this puzzle Julie assured us in the diary title this was a No Zombies Here edition.
This was a comparatively easy puzzle; it took us only 15 hours to finish it. Can the present-day solving team do as well? I bet you can!
If you're ready to journey back in time and match wits with Julie, come on down below the orange squiggle...
